易建联1987年10月27日出生于中国广东省江门市鹤山市，2002年，15岁的易建联正式升入广东男篮一线队，从此开启了自己的职业生涯。在20年的时间里，易建联7次夺得CBA总冠军、为国家队出战了4届奥运会、还前往NBA闯荡了5个赛季。
易建联是CBA历史总篮板王（6159个）、历史总两双王（327次）、常规赛篮板王、常规赛两双王以及季后赛盖帽王，目前历史得分榜排名第二（12781分）。易建联还5次荣膺CBA常规赛MVP，3次CBA总决赛MVP。
在2023年8月29日，易建联在个人社交媒体宣布退役。12月29日，易建联的球衣退役仪式在东莞篮球中心举行。
